About the role and team:
G4S provide front-of-house security services at Maribyrnong Community Residential Facility, which is an adaptable model of transitional accommodation for men recently released from custody that would otherwise be homeless. This allows them a safe place to live and reintegrate into our communities.
We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to join our 15-person team, which includes our Centre Manager, 4 Team Leaders, and 11 Residential Security Officers (RSOs). We are seeking a role model who can foster a productive and collaborative workplace culture and who can demonstrate care and empathy to our team and the residents of the facility.
Duties of the role include:
- Oversee and observe Residential Security Officers (RSOs) daily duties and rotation through various posts, including reception, gatehouse access control, community walks, and control room duties.
- Manage RSO performance and behaviour, including helping set personal goals and providing developmental feedback as required.
- Manage staff rosters, including managing personal leave, annual leave, and shift swaps.
- Complete timely, accurate and detailed incident reports, while managing each incident end-to-end in accordance with G4S operating instructions.
- Emergency management, including being a Chief Fire Warden, being a Chief Controller in our onsite control room, and contacting the emergency services when necessary.
About the roster:
This position is 24/7 and includes a mix of weekdays, nights, and weekends.
You will be working an 84-hour fortnight.
Shifts are of 12 hours' duration and are 6 AM - 6 PM or 6 PM - 6 AM.
What we're looking for:
- Demonstrated staff management and positive interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer-literate and able to produce Word documents and Excel workbooks.
- Empathetic and understanding of the duty of care to G4S employees, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Previous experience in roster management.
Desirable criteria:
- Experience in managing people within residential facilities, correctional settings, and large community groups.
- Previous experience in a correctional or justice environment.
- Experience in corrections, justice, the police force, the courts, or the defence force.
