ABOUT THE ROLE and THE TEAM
Reporting to the Resettlement & Reintegration Manager, the Education Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, delivery, and assessment of education services to prisoners. This includes basic numeracy and literacy, TAFE, and Vocational Education and Training. The position works alongside our team of six Education Coordinators, where participation in programs is encouraged across our diverse prisoner cohort.
The core responsibilities of this role are to:
- Coordinate the delivery of a range of educational programs to prisoners in conjunction with external education providers, teaching those with different levels of education.
- Facilitate and coordinate the delivery of on campus and off-campus, external, distance, and computer-based learning programs, including business studies.
- Supervise and monitor the progress of those prisoners participating in the ‘paid education' work program.
- Conduct literacy and numeracy assessments (NLERDT tests) on prisoners.
- Develop resources to be used for literacy, numeracy, and business studies.
- Deliver in-house Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Food Safety programs.
ABOUT YOU
We're looking for natural facilitators; individuals who are comfortable coordinating diverse learning programs and collaborating with external providers. Your organisational skills will facilitate prisoner progress, through delivering and developing engaging resources in an adult learning environment. A commitment to safety and performance will see you excel in this role. You will also hold:
- A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) AND current or recent experience teaching Literacy and Numeracy in an adult learning environment
- A tertiary qualification in Education (highly desirable) AND current or recent experience teaching Literacy and Numeracy in an adult learning environment
