About the G4S Security Pathway

The G4S Security Pathway is a funded path to becoming a Security Officer at our client's site in Karratha. You'll be offered a contract as a Security Officer, on the condition that you gain a WA Security Licence and maintain your employment with G4S for 12 months or more.

We'll provide the training for a Certificate II in Security Operations, and then we'll help you obtain a WA Security Licence (subject to you passing relevant checks).

The process takes an average of 12 - 16 weeks. The Security Course runs for 7 full time days in a row, over weekdays and weekends, you must be available for the full duration and will likely start at the end of July to early August. When your Security Licence is granted, you can start employment with G4S to gain experience and you'll be a fully licensed Security Officer!

About the role 

Our Facility Security Officers are trained to support our energy client in delivering energy services safely. In a varied role, their primary responsibility is to ensure the immediate safety and security of the premises and all people on the premises. More specifically, you will be responsible for:

• Patrolling large areas.
• Serve as part of an Initial Response Team and respond to emergencies and assist paramedics.
• Provide surveillance and de-escalate incidents.
• Perform drug and alcohol tests.
• Provide customer service by assisting all of our client's staff, visitors, and contractors.
• Ensure all facility security systems and services are compliant.
• Submit detailed reports on safety and security hazards or breaches.

What we're looking for 

• You live locally in Karratha
• Hold a Western Australian Driver's Licence
• Pass your Certificate II in Security Operations
• Pass the Security Background check for your Western Australian Security licence
• Willing to commit to 12 months' employment with G4S*
• An interest in building a career in the security industry

*We're excited to invest in your growth! As part of your onboarding, we'll provide comprehensive training (including a Cert II in Security Operations) and licensing, valued at approximately $1,500. To ensure this investment benefits both you and G4S long-term, should your employment end within the first 12 months, we kindly request reimbursement of these costs.

The recruitment process

G4S runs a staged recruitment process, which will run for 12-16 weeks, which includes:

• Applying online.
• A quick, 15-minute online assessment. 
• A face-to-face or online interview. 
• Background checks (police check, reference checks + medical).
• After signing your employment contract, we'll enroll you in the Certificate II in Security Operations (training runs for 7 full time days, over weekdays and weekends, you must be available to attend for the full duration)
• Once you complete the course you'll apply for your WA Security Licence.
