Our security services for a major energy provider ensure they have a safe, secure and hazard-free environment to operate in. With teams located in Karratha and Perth, Western Australia, we provide asset protection, access control, maritime security, concierge services, CCTV operators and foot and vehicle patrols.

The role of a Facility Security Officer in Karratha

Facility Security Officers are skilled and trained to support our energy client in delivering energy services safely. In a varied role, their primary responsibility is to ensure the immediate safety and security of the premises and all people on the premises.

They patrol vast areas and are part of an Initial Response Team for emergency responses where they assist paramedics. They provide surveillance and deescalate abnormal incidents and liaise with Police, perform drug and alcohol tests, assist all staff, visitors and contractors onsite, and undertake maritime duties.

They ensure all facility security services and systems are compliant, follow work health and safety policies, procedures and instructions, and submit written reports on all safety and security hazards or breaches to the on-duty Security Supervisor.

Remuneration

Full Time (Local Staff)

Ordinary 26.87p/h
Night - $34.93p/h
Saturday - $40.31p/h
Sunday - $53.74p/h
*Plus an additional $9 allowance per hour if they live locally in Karratha.

Casual (FIFO Staff)

Weekday Shift: $33.59 an hour
Night Shift: $41.65 an hour
Saturday: $47.02 an hour
Sunday: $60.46 an hour
*FIFO employees working in Karratha receive $6 per hour living allowance.

Roster

12-hour shifts, 1 week on and then 1 week off - including Saturday and Sunday shifts.
Shift times are a mix of 5 AM - 5 PM and 5 PM - 5 AM.

Recruitment Process

G4S runs a staged recruitment process that includes:

Before starting work all candidates must also complete Industry Safety Induction training and our energy client's online learning modules.

What to expect on the first day

We’ll get you on site 4-5 days before your first day to get you set up and ready to go when you do start.

You’ll receive an email from us, confirming your accommodation, flights, uniform size, roster and the arrival process. You’ll pick up your uniform, complete the relevant site induction/s and meet your supervisor, who will explain what your first shift will look like.

On your first shift, you’ll meet the team and other recruits and get your ID sorted out. You’ll be paired up with an experienced team member and work 4 consecutive day shifts, shadowing your buddy and learning the role and tasks you’ll be responsible for. You will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and complete the online elements of your induction as you learn on the job.

What training is provided?

The induction is a 4 week, fully paid, purpose-built training program. To equip you with the skills and knowledge to excel, it includes a mix of classroom learning, on-the-job training, shadowing, and practical skill development. You'll start with an Industry Safety Induction, which is a one-day training course to prepare you to work at energy facilities in Western Australia. You will also complete a number of training modules and courses run by our energy client to ensure you are safe and understand the relevant protocols required at each site.

Further training is split into 4 week blocks, where you will spend time learning online systems, getting familiar with the site you’ll be working at, and completing online training modules and externally-run training.

For example, your training roster might include one week training at one site in Karratha over four days and three nights, followed by three weeks at another site in Karratha.

As part of your ongoing training, you will also receive specialised, role-specific training, run by supervisors. This practical training will help you learn how to manage complex situations that may arise and give you experience and confidence to manage all aspects of your role.

Eligibility criteria

Available to work 7 days on, 7 days off on a 24/7 roster,
Comfortable working alone and standing for long periods of time
Candidates must live locally in Karratha if applying for a local role
Hold a Western Australian Driver's Licence.
Hold a Western Australian Security License - Static Guard/Crowd Control
Have received or renewed your CPR cert within the year, or willing to do this before commencement
