G4S manages custodial operations across Justice Services in the Northern Territory, including the Custody Watch House and Local Law Courts in Darwin, and across operations across the NT region such as Alice Springs. Our Custody and Transport Officers are responsible for the safe, security, and humane custody and transportation of individuals in custody. You'll work in a varied role where you'll provide supervision, court-related duties, medical and bedside escorts and transport duties for persons in our care.

This role encompasses supervision, transportation, court-related duties, medical and bedside escorts, and adherence to all relevant policies and procedures. You will work within correctional / law enforcement facilities, transport vehicles, in court/custodial settings, and hospital settings, ensuring the well-being of those in custody and maintaining a secure environment, contributing to the effective operation of these settings.

Working in Darwin, you'll be responsible for:

  • Watch House Custody: Looking after the daily routine, watch house operations. and supervision of people in custody - including providing first aid when required.
  • Court Custody: You'll be responsible for court cell management, escorting people in custody to and from courtrooms, and managing the custody of people awaiting court appearances.
  • Transportation: Safely transporting people in custody to designated locations such as courts, medical appointments, hospitals, and custody centres.
  • Bed Sits/Medical Escorts: Continuous security monitoring and observation, risk mitigation, reporting, and ensuring patient welfare within a public health setting.

Working in Alice Springs, you will be responsible for:

  • Court Custody: You'll be responsible for court cell management, escorting people in custody to and from courtrooms, and managing the custody of people awaiting court appearances.
  • Transportation: Safely transporting people in custody to designated locations such as courts, appointments and custody centres.

Documentation and Reporting is critical in this role. You’ll be preparing quality written reports relating to custody case files, individual assessments and welfare, incidents, and transport logs - ensuring documentation complies with legal requirement
